I recently had the amazing experience of shooting a destination wedding! I absolutely LOVE shooting destination weddings, not ONLY because I get to see the sights and sounds of a new place, but I get to be totally immersed in the wedding weekend experience. I get to basically become part of a family at one of the most exciting times of their lives. I get to see soon-to-be family meeting for the first time, rehearsing the ceremony, enjoying each other at the rehersal dinner, going through all the emotions of the wedding ceremony, and then partying together at the reception! By the end I feel so blessed to have witnessed everything from start to finish.
This wedding, however, was even more special to me. This was the wedding of two of my friends Tasha and Greg. This was a wedding I knew about before Tasha, when Greg filled me in on his proposal plans! I feel like I have been a part of some of the most high stress moments of Tasha’s life when I was one of her pilots for most, if not all, of her training in the simulation lab on her journey as an Air Traffic Controller. Come to think of it, I think I was Greg’s pilot on occasion too! Sorry guys! This high stress moment was a whole lot more fun!
We had plenty of practice shooting together when we played around in San Francisco for their engagement session. Seriously, so much fun!
The wedding was held in Winchester Virginia, an adorable town with some amazing stories from the civil war. I learned that this town was one of the most turned over towns in the civil war, sometimes multiple times a day!! The town courthouse was at times hospital, baracks, and jail for both sides back and forth.
The rehersal and rehersal dinner was fun and full of laughter as we all anticipated the ceremony the next day. I draw your attention to the preperations made to master “The Wobble” for the reception!
And at last it was the wedding day! Tasha was stunning as I assumed she would be from the moment I knocked on the door. She was surrounded by her Mom, Sister and Greg’s mom to help get everything perfect!
Greg had one of the best suits I’ve seen at a wedding, straight out of the Great Gatsby!
The ceremony was absolute perfection. So much emotion and laughter. Tasha was escorted first by her father, then by her step father. I absolutely LOVE the emotions of Tasha’s face from one moment to the next, and her father’s reaction… So sweet!
These two are seriously so amazing together!
And finally, reception time! I’m not sure, but I’m guessing the bridal party had been looking forward to their entrance….
The Father/Daughter dances were so sweet, then things took a bit of a turn… But the Mother/Son dance brought instant tears to my eyes!
I knew this was coming… All that preperation paid off I’d say!
Tasha had a little gift for her newest Brother!
But everyone finished the night out strong!! Congrats Tasha and Greg! Love you guys so much!
